Angelina Jolie announced that she wouldn’t be attending Monday night’s premiere of her film, Unbroken, due to the chickenpox.

Jolie, whose second turn in the director’s chair, Unbroken, hits theaters this Christmas, released a video message on Friday to deliver the bad news. “I found out last night that I have the chickenpox,” Jolie said, explaining why she would be absent from Unbroken events this week.

“I will be home, itching and missing everyone. And I can’t believe it because this film means so much to me. I just can’t believe it. But such is life, there it is,” Jolie added.

“I send everyone my love and hope everything goes well,” Jolie concluded with a shrug and a wave.

“You have to laugh at the timing. I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken. I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie’s family, Phil’s daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming,” Jolie said in a statement released by Universal Pictures.

Jolie’s famous husband, Brad Pitt, has been walking down red carpets in her place. Universal Pictures announced that Pitt and his children with Jolie would be attending the premiere on Monday in her place. According to the studio, Pitt’s family has also made the trip to LA to support Jolie and will also be in attendance.

“We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres,” said Universal Pictures.

Unbroken is Jolie’s second feature film, but it is her first to receive such a coveted release date, and has earned the actress plenty of awards buzz.
