American Horror Story Season 3, otherwise titled Coven, will star newcomers to the series, award-winning actresses Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone.
Coven, which will focus on witches, will also welcome Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates to the all-star cast. Ryan Murphy announced the addition of Bassett and LuPone via twitter yesterday, writing, “Two legends are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven – Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Tony winner Patti LuPone!”
Details about the actresses’ characters on the FX anthology series have yet to be revealed. They’ll be filming on location in New Orleans shortly, with returning actors Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga.
Murphy, who created the American Horry Story series with Brad Falchuk, previously teased Coven as “a really cool story we’ve been talking about for a couple of years. So we’re going to do that.” While light on the details, it's certainly enough to build anticipation for the show's loyal viewers.

Great news about Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone signing on for American Horror Story season three since I know both of these actresses will contribute greatly. I work at DISH and some of my friends there can’t wait to see what roles they’ll play on the show so it’s going to be fun speculating on their roles this summer. I like to go back and review the last season of AHS whenever I want since all the episodes were recorded on my DISH Hopper. I can save my favorite seasons without worrying about space for other programs I record because my DVR holds up to 2,000 hours of entertainment.
