Andrew Garfield said that he would be taking a brief pause from acting after finishing up a ton of projects along with a grueling awards season tour for his Oscar-nominated performance in Tick, Tick…Boom!
Including Tick, Tick…Boom! Garfield appeared in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye and even reprised his role as Peter Parker/Spiderman in Spider Man: No Way Home. Now that his most recent role in the miniseries Under The Banner Of Heaven has premiered, Garfield said he wouldn’t be taking any new acting work for a short time.
“I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for a while. Because as you know, that is a washing machine, that awards season,” Garfield told Variety. He was quick to add that he was grateful for getting good work and awards recognition, but “I just need to be a bit ordinary for a while.”
Under The Banner Of Heaven on FX stars Garfield as a Mormon detective who is assigned the investigation of a brutal murder of a mother and child carried out by fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints members. With such intense subject matter, Garfield said, “I think it was actually a necessity for us to have game nights and nature and hike,” to get their minds off their workdays. “We had to keep on taking care of ourselves so that we can take care of the story.”
