They may be an odd couple, but it seems that singing legend Tony Bennett, 84, and soul singer Amy Winehouse, 27, are planning on merging their talents.
"We're working on partnering up to record a duet together, but it's still in the works," the "Fly Me to the Moon" crooner told The New York Post. According to Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto, Winehouse is a huge fan of the 60's performer. The "Rehab" singer "went to see him twice while he was performing in London," Benedetto said.
Despite all their differences, the two singers have one thing in common: addiction. While Winehouse's addiction problems have been well documented since her rise to fame after the release of her album, Back to Black, Bennett's history with substance abuse has been less sensationalized. His memoir, The Good Life, discusses the star's struggle with cocaine addiction in the 70s. Since his recovery over 30 years ago, however, Bennett has maintained a vocal role opposing drug use. In October he said that young stars who succumb to addiction are "sinning against their talents." —KIMBERLY STEELE
