Comedian Amy Schumer has opened up about her decision to dissolve the face fillers she recently got in her cheeks.

On Sunday, she posted an Instagram photograph of herself at the office of Dr. Jodi LoGerfo, who dissolved the fillers after Schumer’s dissatisfaction with the filler placement by another dermatologist. “I tried getting fillers,” the comedian captioned her selfie. “Turns out I was already full.”

LoGerfo shared Schumer’s photo. The dermatologist explained her role in dissolving the fillers, adding that they “can be a wonderful way to replace lost volume and enhance the face” for many people. However, she and Schumer determined that the placement of the fillers on the actress’s face “was not ideal, so we dissolved it. Dissolving filler is a very simple and quick treatment.”

“Thank God you can dissolve them,” Schumer’s own caption joked. “I looked like #malificent.”

When fans asked Schumer why she had wanted the fillers, she said that “something about this year” had prompted the decision.

“Turning 40 all my surgeries I want to feel the best I can about myself,” she said. “I got lipo and I had a great experience doing that.” She added that she had used to look down upon those who got cosmetic surgeries of this nature. “Now I’m like, do everything you can to love yourself exactly as you are but once you turn 40 and have a c-section do whatever the f–k will make you feel best!”

Many followers expressed support for Schumer on the post, including multiple celebrities.

“Hahaha love this and have dissolved multiple times!” wrote Bachelor Nation star Ashley Iaconetti.

“You are so beautiful!” said actress and author Isla Fisher. “No fillers needed.”

In September, Schumer underwent more invasive surgery. After years of suffering from endometriosis, she had her uterus and appendix removed. Her endometriosis had affected various facets of her life, including her fertility. She said in August 2020 that after having her first and only child, now two-year-old Gene, she had determined that she could not “be pregnant ever again.”
