‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 12, Episode 17 Recap: Chase Goehring, Kechi Perform Live [VIDEO]

Tuesday night’s episode of America’s Got Talent saw several awe-inspiring live performances from the remaining 11 acts on the 12th season of the competition show on NBC.

To kick off the night, DaNell Daymon and Greater Works, sang the classic Grease love song, “You’re the One That I Want.” With lights flashing all around, the choir belted the song from the 1978 musical with soul. All four judges gave the group a standing ovation.

Following the heavy-hitting choir, were two dance acts. First, Junior and Emily Alabi, a brother-sister dance duo, moved quickly to a thumping EDM song. The dance was violent but restrained and the duo recieved standing ovations from both Mel B and Heidi Klum. Following the first dance act, Oscar Hernandez, a former football player, twerked across the stage to Fergie‘s “M.I.L.F. $.” With a hoard of background dancers, Oscar descended on to the stage in an iron cage and danced his hip-hop routine over thunderous applause. Simon Cowell got out of his judge’s chair to praise the performance.

The youngest contestant, Angelina Green, then came onto the stage at the Dolby Theatre to sing “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles. The 13-year-old’s performance brought several audience members to tears.

In one of the more unusual acts, Colin Cloud, a mind-reading magician, attempted to solve Simon’s murder before it happened. In a convoluted act with many moving parts, Cloud proved that he knew the motive behind the killing before the random audience member had even decided what it would be. All the judges were impressed and Mel B mentioned that his act was “creepy.”

Next, Mike Yung, a former subway performer, sang Ed Sheeran‘s “Thinking Out Loud.” Simon, praising the performance, said “You can’t put an age limit on talent. You deserve to be here.”

Following Yung were two of the most unique acts of the night. Oskar & Gaspar performed their body projection skills while Sara Carson and her two dogs performed a wild routine on a stage set in Ancient Egypt.

One of the more viral stars of the current season of America’s Got TalentChase Goehring took the stage to singe yet another original song, titled “Illusion.” Switching between rhythmic guitar playing, singing, and rapping, Goehring tried to remind audiences why DJ Khaled gave him the coveted Golden Buzzer last month.

Next, the Los Angeles dance group Diavolo wowed the audience while moving across, on top, under, and through a giant, spinning dram catcher. Both Simon and Howie Mandel gave the group their support.

The final act was the most emotional. Singer Kechi belted a cover of “By The Grace of God.” Kechi, who was one of two survivors in a horrific plane crash, began to cry after the moving song and the judges, too, were equally affected.

America’s Got Talent continues tonight at 8 p.m. EST on NBC with the live results show.
