‘America’s Got Talent’ Quarterfinalist Emily Gold Dies By Suicide At 17 – Just Days After Being Eliminated From Competition
America’s Got Talent contestant Emily Gold, 17, was found dead on Sept. 13. The San Bernardino Coroner’s Office has ruled her death a suicide.
In a statement, California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said that “officers from the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga area responded to a pedestrian down in lanes.”
“When the officers arrived, they located a female, 17-years-old, who was struck at least one vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210,” Jimenez continued. “The female did succumb to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Following her untimely death, Gold’s loved ones have organized a GoFundMe to raise money for her family.
“With great sadness, we share our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away,” the fundraiser says. “As a community let’s come together to support the Gold family in this difficult time. Please know this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses.”
Gold was a Los Osos High School dancer who appeared on the popular competition show alongside her dance team. The group made it to the quarterfinals before being eliminated.
In an interview with People on Aug. 13, Gold spoke about her love for performing.
“When I’m performing, I’m really thinking about all the corrections because we get corrections up until five minutes before we go on stage. So to really just think about all those so that we apply them is my biggest priority on stage,” she said.
Police have asked anybody who has information regarding Gold’s death to contact the investigator, Officer S. Gonzalez.
