America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel opened up about the harrowing moment his wife, Terry, suffered a severe head injury after a fall during a trip to Las Vegas in February.
Mandel, 68, recounted the scary incident while appearing on an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. He said his wife had been drinking and fell in the middle of the night, hitting her head hard.
“She was tipsy. I did not know that, and in the middle of the night, she got up and headed into the wall,” Mandel said. He showed a graphic photo of Terry with a large gash on her forehead, exposing her skull and a dark bruise around her eye.
Mandel said he panicked seeing the amount of blood and called hotel security instead of 911. Multiple security guards arrived, making it look like a “crime scene,” he joked.
“Blood is pooling out, and I freaked out. I picked her up; I put her on the bed. There’s blood everywhere,” Mandel explained. “I saw her head, and you could actually see her skull. It opened up. I freaked.”
Terry was taken to the hospital and has since recovered with no visible scar. Mandel showed a recent photo of the couple with Terry’s face fully healed.
“She is absolutely perfect. There’s not a scar. She’s beautiful,” Mandel said, calling his wife “a saint” for putting up with him.
