And then there were three. La’Porsha Renae, Dalton Rapattoni, and Trent Harmon all hoped to make it to the finale tonight where one will win the record deal.

‘American Idol’ Season 15 Episode 22 Recap

The first part of the finale was split into three rounds of songs, singing their potential single, American Idol creator Simon Fuller’s pick, and finish with the contestant’s choice.

If Harmon wins tonight his single “Falling” will be released to radio. The song really highlights the soulful tone in his voice.

Rapattoni’s single “Strike A Match” has a soft rock feel.

Renae’s “Battles” is a balanced song that seems like it fits radio out of all three singles. It showcases her range but doesn’t overdo it.

All three singles are available on iTunes for download.

The top three singers all came from the Little Rock audition but one had to go. Rapattoni is sent home making the finale a definite Mississippi winner.

Fuller’s song choices for the night were perfect for both Harmon and Renae. Harmon sings “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” and kills it.

“For the first time in a long time we have a battle here,” Jennifer Lopez said.

Renae sings an angelic version of “A House Is Not A Home.” Keith Urban said it was “smoldering.”

For Harmon’s choice, he sings Sia’s “Chandelier.” His range perfectly matches Renae’s. One minute he’s in his falsetto and within seconds later he can be in his lower register. Harry Connick Jr. thought his performance was really strong and Lopez said he deserves to win.

Renae sings “Diamonds” in dedication to her young daughter. Harry Connick Jr. was at a loss for words to critique the performance just saying it was incredible.

American Idol officially signs off with their 15th and final season. Catch the two-hour finale tonight at 8/7c on FOX.
