It may have been St. Patrick's Day yesterday, but luck was not on Karen Rodriguez's side last night. The 21-year-old who was discovered via her MySpace audition, was the most recent victim of American Idol's eliminations.
After a divisive performance of "Love Will Lead You Back" on Wednesday, during which the Top 12 contestants performed songs from the year they were born, Rodriguez found herself in the bottom three with Hailey Reinhart, for the second time in two weeks. When Ryan Seacrest revealed that Reinhart was safe and that Rodriguez had received the least amount of votes, she made one last-ditch attempt to stay in the competition. But her shaky performance of Mariah Carey's "Hero" sealed her fate, and the judges decided to pass on her for once and for all. “This is not unanimous,” Randy Jackson told her, as fellow judges Jennifer Lopez (pictured) and Steven Tyler remained silent amidst booing from the audience.
Along with the elimination, there were performances by The Black Eyed Peas and season 8 winner Lee DeWyze, who debuted his new single, "Beautiful Like You." Look for more performances—and another elimination—from the Top 11 Idol hopefuls next week. —EMILY EXTON
