American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, a new anthology series from Ryan Murphy, has found its lead in Cuba Gooding Jr.
Gooding will play beloved football player-turned-double homicide suspect O.J. Simpson in FX’s forthcoming The People v. O.J. Simpson, according to Us Weekly. The role of Marcia Clarke, the prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial, will be played by Sarah Paulson, whose appeared in every season of Murphy’s other FX anthology series – American Horror Story.
The People v. O.J. Simpson will follows the 1995 trial that followed the deaths of Nicole Simpson Brown and Ronald Goldman.
“American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson is a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense willingness,” according to an FX press release. “And the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.”
In addition to Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are executive producing.
