The Walking Dead will return for the second half of its sixth season next month, and AMC is teasing the upcoming episodes with some ominous official key art.
The key art features a collection of images – someone holding rosary beads, a town burning in the distance, the hand of a walker bearing a wedding ring (possibly a turned Deanna, played by Tovah Feldshuh), Morgan (Lennie James) on horseback, a satellite, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) with a scar under his eye, a handcuffed zombie, Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) holding hands and an RV.
“This image gives a look at tiny pieces of a larger world our group is about to discover,” said executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple. “In the new world, they’ll find hope, possibility, tragedy and the terrifying cost of change.”
The Walking Dead concluded the first half of its sixth season with midseason finale “Start to Finish,” which saw walkers storming Alexandria. With options running out, Rick leads the group upstairs in Jessie’s home, and orders Michonne (Danai Gurira) to bring up two slain walkers. In order to walk through the zombies, they’ll all need to cover themselves in their guts. Resolved to survive, the group walks downstairs and through the walkers, emerging on the front porch and continuing on through the herd.
When The Walking Dead returns, the fate of Rick and his surviving group – including his son Carl and original members Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Carol (Melissa McBride) – will be determined. As the second half of the season unfolds, they’ll be introduced to the Saviors – who Daryl (Norman Reedus) has already encountered – the Hilltop Colony and the Sanctuary.
The midseason premiere of The Walking Dead’s sixth season will air on AMC Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9/8c.
