Amber Rose
Amber Rose led her first ‘SlutWalk’ in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The actress and model led hundreds of supporters of the SlutWalk movement in L.A. on Oct. 3. Rose, along with many others, wore revealing clothing for the march.
SlutWalk is a movement that began in 2011 where men and women march to end rape culture and to support a woman’s right to wear what she wants without being slut-shamed, assaulted, abused, or blamed for being abused in the first place. The movement has gone global, although it all started in Toronto, Ontario, after a Toronto police officer made the suggestion that women should stop dressing like ‘sluts’ if they didn’t want to be harassed. The SlutWalk protests against the idea of excusing rape by blaming the woman for dressing provocatively.
The march mainly consists of young women who often dress in skimpy outfits in order to stress the point that just because they dress like that does not mean it is an invitation for sex.
Saturday’s L.A. SlutWalk featured signs saying “My Clothes Are Not My Consent” and “The Way I Dress Does Not Mean Yes.” Rose herself carried a sign saying, “Strippers Have Feelings Too.”
