Amber Rose and Julianne Hough put the drama between them to bed during the Dancing with the Stars live show Monday night.
On last night’s Cirque du Soleil themed Dancing with the Stars, Rose made a point of addressing last week’s incident, in which she thought that Hough was subtly body-shaming her.
“I felt you weren’t talking about my dance,” Rose said of Hough’s critique. “But if I misunderstood, I apologize. I’m a very positive person. I don’t like to argue or bicker or make things weird, so moving forward, I just want complete positive energy.”
On Twitter, Rose added to her fans and followers, “Rosebuds! @juliannehough did apologize to me for the way her comment came off. The crowd was clapping loud at the time #GirlPower ❤️”
Hough replied to Rose’s peace offering by maintaining that she never intended to make Rose feel as though she was criticizing her body rather than her dance.
“I would like to say one thing also. The thing that I love so much about dance is that dance is a universal platform for people to express themselves. Any person,” Hough said. “Whether that is age or height, body shape, ethnicity, sexual orientation. It is something that people can express themselves to do.”
Hough added, “And for me, I am a huge supporter of that and that alone. As a judge on this show, I am here to solely judge you and everyone else in this competition for only the dancing. So I want you to know that.”
After last week’s dance, Rose had gone on her Loveline podcast to share her feelings about Hough’s reaction to her performance.
“It was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks dipped me and [Julianne] said, ‘Oh, I’m uncomfortable,’ and I instantly, I felt — I did feel body-shamed,” Rose said. “You know, all the beautiful professional dancers that are on Dancing With the Stars, I mean, they dress very sexy and they do splits and they grind up on these guys and they look absolutely stunning and they get a standing ovation. And for me, and my body, my hips, my ass, my breasts, made her uncomfortable.”
Hough immediately refuted Rose’s suggestion, explaining to multiple media outlets that body-shaming was the last thing she was doing as a judge on Dancing with the Stars.
“My ‘uncomfortable’ comment was about the fact that I felt like I wanted more out of the performance — when someone is doing a hot, sexy dance like that without the right amount of energy that is required, it can be uncomfortable to watch,” Hough told E! News. “Trust me I’m all for a sexy booty dance!! We all know that! And any kind of body-shaming goes against everything I believe in.”
