In a candid interview with conservative commentator Candace Owens, model and actress Amber Rose revealed the surprising catalyst behind her decision to publicly express her support for former President Donald Trump.
Earlier this month Rose was a speaker at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
This marked a notable turn-around for Rose, as she had previously responded to comments Trump made to The Cut magazine in 2016 that Hillary Clinton was only being supported by “non-hot” celebrities with “He’s just such an idiot. He’s so weird. I really hope he’s not president.”
According to Rose, it was her ex-husband, rapper Wiz Khalifa, who encouraged her to embrace her pro-Trump stance and share it on social media. In May, Rose posted a photo with Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump, accompanied by the caption declaration “Trump 2024.”
Rose’s appearance at the Republican National Convention further cemented her newfound political allegiance. She recalled feeling initially intimidated by the predominantly “white men in suits” in attendance and acknowledged that it may have been an unfamiliar environment for someone “from the left.” However, Rose was ultimately enthralled by the experience and worked with one of Trump’s speechwriters to craft her remarks.
In her convention address, Rose explained that her father’s support for Trump, a figure she had previously viewed as racist, prompted her to delve deeper into the former president’s policies and supporters. She was surprised to discover that “Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re black, white, gay or straight, it’s all love.“
Rose declared, “A vote for Donald Trump is a vote to put money back in our pockets and good food back on our kids’ plates.”
The response to Rose‘s speech was overwhelming, and the model recounted how she was bombarded with requests for photographs and interactions from attendees. “Right after that speech, boy, I must have taken like 3,000 pictures in four days,” she told Owens.
Carpenter will be supported by artists Ravyn Lenae, Amber Mark, and Olivia Dean.
