Amber Heard, who has been charged with two counts of breaching Australia’s quarantine laws for allegedly bringing her and husband Johnny Depp‘s dogs into the country without declaring them, failed to show up for her court mention Monday where her barrister secured another adjournment.
Heard was represented in the court mention Monday by barrister Paula Morreau, reported The Guardian. Morreau told the court that she was in conversations with the crown and that she would be needing a short adjournment. The crown prosecutor did not object to the adjournment. A new court date for the case has been scheduled for Dec. 7.
In May, Heard was accused of bringing dogs Pistol and Boo into Australia – where her husband Depp was filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film – on a private jet. It’s alleged that Heard did not declare the Yorkshire terriers upon arrival.
Since the charges were brought against Heard, the actress has missed three court dates. Back in June, Heard stated that she would never return to Australia. “I have a feeling we’re going to avoid the land down under from now on, just as much as we can, thanks to certain politicians there,” Heard told Australia’s Sunrise TV show.
One politician Heard was likely referring to is Australia’s minister for agriculture, Barnaby Joyce, who threatened to euthanize her and Depp’s dogs.
“If we start letting movie stars – even if they’ve been Sexiest Man Alive twice – to come into our nation, then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody? It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States,” Joyce said in a televised statement. “Now, Mr. Depp needs to take his dogs back to California or we’re going to have to euthanize them. He’s got about 50 hours.”
