Amanda Bynes' Parents Concerned For Her Well Being, Seeking Conservatorship

Amanda Bynes' parents are requesting that she be placed under their control so that they can oversee her medical care and finances, and make sure she doesn’t hurt herself or others.

Richard and Lynn Bynes filed the conservatorship petition on Friday, in which they site their daughter’s recent spate of arrests and bizarre public behavior. They also revealed that the What I Like About You actress has stated fears that she’s being watched through smoke detectors and through the dashboard of her vehicle.

Bynes is currently in a two-week psychiatric hold at a hospital in California, and hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 9 by Ventura County Superior Court Judge Glen M. Reiser. Before making a decision on Byne’s parents’ conservatorship request, Reiser wishes to meet with the former child star one-on-one, reported ABC News.

"We are deeply concerned that Amanda poses a substantial risk to herself, to others, and to property based on recent events in her life," Richard and Lynn’s petition reads. Their daughter had traveled from New York to California last weekend before inciting a fire on the driveway of her childhood home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The parents stated, "We believe she is essentially homeless.”

As far as Bynes’ finances are concerned, her parents believe that she has not only been spending excessive amounts of money on plastic surgery, but may also have been purchasing drugs. They believe that her body image issues could result in surgeries that could damage her overall health.

After relocating from the West Coast to New York City and announcing her retirement from acting, Bynes has received a lot of attention in the media for her strange behavior. She debuted a shocking new look back in March, revealing a big blonde wig and cheek piercings, and took to Twitter to share racy thoughts on Drake. She’s also made a habit of tweeting how ugly people are, including her ex Kid Cudi and her sister.

Bynes was arrested in May after allegedly smoking marijuana in her apartment lobby. When cops arrived, they claim she threw a bong out her window. After submitting to a psych evaluation, she was booked for reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana.
