U.S. Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman poses nude for Sports Illustrated’s. “In Her Own Words” project to help promote women empowerment.

Following the trial of Larry Nassar, Raisman has made been using her platform to help fight sexual abuse.

She posed for Sports Illustrated nude with words and phrases written all over her body. The words “Every voice matters,” “Fierce,” “Women do not have to be modest to be respected” and “Survivor” were written on the gymnast’s body.

Raisman posted one of the shots on her Instagram and said, “women can be intelligent, fierce, sexy, powerful, strong, advocate for change while wearing what makes them feel best.”

Raisman felt that the campaign serves as a reminder that everyone has problems they have to overcome. “For me, ‘In Her Own Words’ serves as a reminder that we are all humans, we are all battling something, and it is ok to not be ok,” she told Sports Illustrated. “We are not alone and we need each other.”

The gymnast was not the only one who posed for this “In Her Own Words” campaign. Robyn Lawley, Hunter McGrady, Paulina Porizkova and Sailor Brinkley Cook also posed with words written on them, some of them posing for different reasons.

McGrady posed to fight against the media’s high standards for women’s physical appearance. In an Instagram post she wrote, “I am no longer bound by the chains that society has put on me to fit a certain mold that has been so confining and brainwashing.”

The “In Her Own Words” campaign will be a part of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2018.
