Alix Tichelman, the California prostitute who stands accused of killing Google executive Forrest Timothy Hayes with a lethal dose of heroin, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges.
Tichelman pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and other charges related to the incident in court Tuesday. Per her plea deal, Tichelman was sentenced to six years in prison. However, it’s expected that she will only have to serve three of those years, according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
“This was an accident and a panic and she is so, so sorry,” Tichelman’s public defender Jerry Christensen told the court.
In November 2013, Hayes was discovered dead onboard his yacht. During the investigation into his death, it was found that Tichelman had been onboard the boat and had injected Hayes with the drug. She then left the yacht, effectively leaving the tech exec to die.
Tichelman was arrested for her part in Hayes death in July 2014.
Incidentally, a man Tichelman dated before Hayes’ death, Dean Riopelle, died from a heroin overdose in September 2013.
