‘ALF’ Child Star Benji Gregory Found Dead In Car At 46

Benji Gregory, a former child actor best known for his part in the cult NBC series ALF, was found dead in his car last month in Arizona at 46.

Gregory’s body was discovered on June 13 in a Chase Bank parking lot in Peoria, according to his sister Rebecca. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the date of death, but the official cause has not yet been released.

Family members believe Gregory may have succumbed to vehicular heatstroke, as temperatures in Peoria reached a sweltering 107 degrees on the day of his death. Gregory’s service dog, Hans, was also found deceased in the vehicle.

Rebecca said that her brother had been struggling with depression, bipolar disorder and a sleep disorder that often left him awake for days at a time. She added that Gregory had visited the area to deposit a residual check at a nearby bank the day before his death.

Gregory rose to fame as a child actor, portraying Brian Tanner in the hit NBC sitcom ALF from 1986 to 1990. He appeared in all 101 episodes of the show, which centered around an alien life form living with a suburban American family.

“We are grieving a great loss,” Rebecca said, expressing gratitude for the public’s support during this difficult time. She suggested that fans wishing to honor Gregory’s memory could make donations to the Actors Equity Foundation or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), both organizations he cared deeply about.

As fans and fellow actors mourn Gregory’s untimely passing, many are reflecting on the lasting impact of ALF and the nostalgic memories associated with the show.
