Despite the tragic death of iconic fashion designer Alexander McQueen, his eponymous fashion label will live on. Frances-Henri Pinault, who heads the French luxury group PPR, which controls McQueen’s companies through the Gucci Group, promised Thursday to continue the brand as a tribute to the late designer. McQueen was working on a collection before his suicide on February 11.
Robert Polet, chief of the Gucci Group which controls McQueen’s companies, said that McQueen’s collection will be shown at Paris fashion week next month. Polet recalls speaking with McQueen before his death. “That will be my legacy," McQueen told him. "That’s something I will always leave behind.” –NATASHA ALLOWAY
