Alex Trebek
Alex Trebek, the longtime Jeopardy host, added a bit of fun to the trivia game show on Wednesday — when he mocked a contestant for having an interest in “nerdcore hip-hop.”
Trebek proceeded with his usual Jeopardy contestant introductions, asking each player questions about what they do for fun. But, it appeared that contestant Susan Cole, caught the host off guard with her strange taste in music.
“Her favorite type of music is something I’ve never heard of, but it doesn’t sound like fun,” Trebek said, as he introduced Susan.
“I think it’s very fun, it’s called nerdcore hip-hop,” Susan explained. “It’s people who identify as nerdy, rapping about the things they love. Video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners. It’s really catchy and fun.”
“Losers. In other words,” Trebek joked, after giving Susan a confused look.
The audience laughed at Trebek’s rare showcase of his comedic side, while Susan cringed in embarrassment. “I’m teasing. I’m teasing you,” the host assured.
