He may seem too young to be jaded, but fresh-faced heartthrob Alex Pettyfer, 21, who epitomized irony playing the titular role in this year's Beastly, is already getting a reputation in Hollywood.
Pettyfer has strong opinions about the film industry, and now he's been dubbed "Hollywood's Next Bad Boy" by VMAN magazine. And he isn't shying away from the perilous title. "I've heard I've been called a bad boy, or difficult," he said. "Maybe that's because I don't take any bulls—."
Like "bad boy" Christian Bale before him, who criticized acting as "a sissy job" in Esquire, Pettyfer feels he has the profession pegged. "Being an actor is like being in prison," he said. "You go, you serve your time, you try and replicate Johnny Depp's career and then you move to Paris."
And you have to do it all in the "s—hole" of Los Angeles, which Pettyfer went on to describe as an "insidious pool where nearly everyone lives in fear. Geographically it's fantastic," he said of the city. "But socially it's disgusting." And the people aren't any better. Pettyfer used some very colorful misogynistic language to describe the kind of women he encounters in L.A. The c-word you seem to refer to seems to be used in the US in connection with women.
However, if you consult a dictionary, you may find out that it also used gender-unspecific for a**hole, for which the word is known all over the planet. Since he didn't grew up in the US, that is the meaning he meant, so he didn't intend to refer to women at all.
