Alec Baldwin Sued Again, This Time By Parents Of Shooting Victim Halyna Hutchins

After being formally charged with involuntary manslaughter, Alec Baldwin is once again being sued for negligence for his role in the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins in 2021.

After reaching a settlement with Hutchins’ husband and son last October, Baldwin is now facing a second lawsuit for negligence and battery from the victim’s parents and sister, who reside in Ukraine.

When announcing the civil action lawsuit, Gloria Allred, who is known for taking high-profile cases, said that the Los Angeles suit was filed against “Alec Baldwin, Rust producers, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, first assistant director David Halls, and other defendants who may have been responsible for the death of Halyna Hutchins.”

“There has been no outreach by Mr. Baldwin, no apology,” Allred told reporters. “We want accountability and justice for them. It’s as simple as that.”

Referring to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Allred expressed the difficulties and stresses Hutchins’ family has had to endure while coping with her death. According to Allred, Hutchins’ mother, Olga Solovey, is an emergency operating room nurse in a hospital in Ukraine. At the same time, her sister, Svetlana Zemko, is a mother of a 4-year-old and infant, with a husband fighting on the frontlines of the war. Her sister, who was incredibly close to her, has described Hutchins’ death as “one of the biggest losses” of her life.

“We look forward to victory for Ukraine and justice for the parents and sisters of Halyna Hutchins. Glory to Ukraine,” Allred said.

This lawsuit is just one of the many legal challenges Baldwin, who had recently resumed filming for Rust, is facing at the moment. While he has repeatedly denied firing the weapon responsible for Hutchins’ death, he is potentially facing five years of imprisonment if found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter charges against him.
