Alec Baldwin Fatally Shoots Crewmember Halyna Hutchins On Film With Prop Gun

Alec Baldwin fatally shot the director of photography and injured the director while filming his movie Rust in New Mexico on Thursday afternoon. Director of photography Halyna Hutchins, 42, was flown to a hospital in Albuquerque but was pronounced dead upon her arrival. Director Joel Souza, 48, was hospitalized for treatment of his wounds at a nearby hospital. There is no word on his condition yet.

The local sheriff’s department has launched an investigation. No arrests have been made so far. Baldwin was interviewed by the sheriff’s office after the shooting.

The scene being rehearsed involved the use of a firearm by Baldwin’s character. Baldwin reportedly did not know that the gun was loaded.

Baldwin has not commented on the incident as of 11:30 p.m. on Thursday night.
