Alec Baldwin Celebrates Trump Loss: ‘I’m Overjoyed To Lose A Job’

Alec Baldwin, who has famously impersonated President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live for the past four years, tweeted celebrating his loss of the 2020 presidential election on Saturday.

“I don’t believe I’ve ever been this overjoyed to lose a job before!” Baldwin tweeted.

“It will be comforting when we have a President who doesn’t Tweet twice as much as I do,” he wrote before tagging Trump.

“They’re gonna need an enormous shipment of tissues sent to Mar-a-Lago,” Baldwin continued to joke.

“It’s been fun,” Baldwin wrote as a final goodbye to the role.

SNL cast member Gary Kroeger noted that he would not miss Baldwin playing the role in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the show’s Biden Victory episode.

“That doesn’t mean I didn’t like it,” Kroeger insisted. “I did, and still do, but there hasn’t been a new twist on his characterization in a couple of years. How could there be?”

However, fans on Twitter did not seem to be willing to let Baldwin’s Trump go – nor did they think that Biden’s victory meant that Trump would no longer be relevant, as Baldwin suggested.

“An out of work Trump is comedy gold. Are you kidding?! You’re going to win an Emmy based on his post Presidency, mark my F’n words,” one user wrote.

“Mate, there’s still the “getting dragged out of the WH” sketch, the “being arrested in Trump Tower” sketch, the multiple “court trial” sketches, and a final “can’t tweet from prison” sketch. You’ll be in work for a while yet,” another tweeted.

Regardless of whether or not Baldwin’s Trump makes a return, the actor himself seems happy enough that the former president himself is gone, and is quickly moving on to tweet about other veins of political advocacy.
