Nathan Fillion, who is noted for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the television series Firefly and most recently Richard Castle on the ABC series Castle, is voicing his desire to play DC Comic’s superhero Booster Gold.
Alan Tudyk, who co-stars with Fillion on the web series show Con Man, has also expressed interest in the role of Blue Beetle, who is the best friend of Booster Gold in the comicbook series. “Well, that’s great. If it’s working with Nathan, I’m in,” Tudyk told Comicbook.com, “Also, being a bug for me? I’d like that. Roly-poly is nice. I’d like to be one of them. That’s what we called them back in Texas, but they’re almost a beetle.”
With the two co-stars currently in talks to play the duo, it seems that the movie could be in production soon with Arrow and The Flash writer/director Greg Berlanti and executive producer Sarah Schechter already on board. Zach Penn, the X-Men: The Last Stand writer, has been rumored to write the screenplay for the movie.
