After Years-Long Feud, Vin Diesel Acknowledges The Rock At Golden Globes: “Hey Dwayne”

Vin Diesel appeared to extend an olive branch to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at Sunday’s Golden Globes.

While presenting the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Diesel paused to casually say, “Hey Dwayne.” Johnson smiled in response, signaling a thaw in their longtime feud.

The actors, who costarred in several Fast & Furious films, have had a public and contentious relationship dating back to 2016. Diesel, known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the franchise, and Johnson, who debuted as federal agent Luke Hobbs in Fast Five (2011), have both been vocal about their differences.

Their feud became public when Johnson posted on social media in August 2016, criticizing unnamed male costars for being unprofessional, referring to them as “candy a–es.” While Johnson later praised some of his costars by name, Diesel was notably excluded.

The feud escalated with reports blaming both actors for on-set clashes. In a 2021 Men’s Health interview, Diesel described using “tough love” to get the best performance from Johnson, a claim Johnson dismissed as “bull––” in an interview with Vanity Fair.

Despite the drama, Johnson launched his Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, in 2019, and appeared in a mid-credits scene in Fast X (2023). Johnson has since announced plans to reprise his role as Hobbs in a film that will serve as a continuation of Fast X and a bridge to Fast X: Part 2.

In 2023, Johnson revealed that he and Diesel had reconciled. “Last summer, @vindiesel and I put all the past behind us,” Johnson wrote on social media. “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve—and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”
