Former President Donald Trump said the United States will face a “bloodbath” if President Joe Biden wins the election.
On Saturday, Trump told a rally near Dayton, Ohio, “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath. That’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.”
The statement came while Trump spoke about the automobile industry, saying he would not allow China to sell imported vehicles in the U.S. if reelected. Attendees were unsure of what Trump meant by “bloodbath.”
Many critics of Trump’s calls for violence on January 6, 2021.
James Singer, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign, responded to Trump’s remarks: “This is who Donald Trump is: a loser who gets beat by over seven million votes and then instead of appealing to a wider mainstream audience doubles down on his threats of political violence.”
The political scene is heating up as Biden and Trump prepare to face off again for this year’s election. Both candidates are set to address the January 6 Capitol storming. Former Vice President Mike Pence withdrew his endorsement of Trump, citing differences in political ideals.
Trump’s numerous legal cases also pose a potential risk. Despite Trump previously hoarding secret documents, the Biden administration is still set to brief Trump on classified information.
