After Ivanka Trump first announced her departure from politics in 2021, the daughter of former President Donald Trump has kept her distance from the political sphere – and her father. Ivanka has focused on her family, including her husband, Jared Kushner. Kushner himself has drawn his attention to his personal business affairs, including the construction of a resort in Serbia while raising billions from the Saudi royal family.
During Trump’s hush-money trials in New York, Ivanka and Trump’s wife, Melania, were reportedly “embarrassed” by his legal affairs and refused to attend the proceedings. Ivanka was later photographed at a friend’s wedding with Kushner in Mexico while Trump continued to appear in court.
Friends of Ivanka say she may return to politics and be involved in her father’s second presidential term if he is reelected. Kushner’s investment in Belgrade was already speculated to be a ploy to strengthen international connections between overseas nations and the Trump family. Trump had previously had an eye on Serbian land and had similar plans to develop a luxury resort.
Sources close to Ivanka say privately that she is warming up to the idea of helping her father if he is reelected. Ivanka no longer seems to be rejecting the idea of serving under the Trump administration or, at the very least, contributing in some way.
Representatives of Ivanka refused to comment. Friends of her continue to say the prospect of returning to politics is on her mind, but Ivanka will still focus on her family and personal brand. After the October 7 Hamas attack, Ivanka has worked with organizations to aid displaced Israeli civilians. Ivanka was also not barred from practicing business in New York, unlike her brothers, Don Jr. and Eric, in the lawsuit brought on by Attorney General Letitia James.
