After Meghan Markle Posts Dance Video In Delivery Room Throwback Video, Critics Call It ‘Cringey’
Meghan Markle and husband Prince Harry shared a video of the royals dropping it low as she prepared to give birth to their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in a throwback video from 2021.
The video was shared on Instagram and featured them dancing to the viral “Baby Momma Dance Song” while waiting in the hospital.
Markle danced around the delivery room, swaying her hips and clapping to the music. Harry also occasionally danced across the screen.
“Four years ago today, this also happened,” Markle captioned the post. “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!”
Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021. Markle and Harry welcomed their first child, Prince Archie, back in May 2019.
With Markle’s approval rating hitting a record low in the U.K., the video may have been an attempt to make her relatable.
Markle shared several throwbacks in honor of Lilibet’s birthday, including a photo holding her right after she was born.
“Happy birthday to our beautiful girl!” she wrote. “Four years ago today, she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it.”
“Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
On Saturday, Markle also posted a slideshow of photos of the family at Disneyland celebrating the birthday girl’s special day.
Underneath the post, she wrote, “Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!”
Markle’s numerous critics called the video “cringey” and “very difficult to watch.”
“I honestly genuinely had to go to her page to make sure it had originated there because I thought it was a parody,” The Sun‘s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson said.
