After Kelly Rowland Storms Off ‘Today Show’ Set Over Dressing Room Dispute, Hoda Kotb Says She Wants ‘Her To Come Back’
In a gesture of goodwill, Today Show host Hoda Kotb expressed her affection for singer Kelly Rowland in an attempt to mend any rift that may have arisen between them. Last week, Rowland withdrew from her guest-hosting duties on Today with Hoda & Jenna amid reports of an alleged behind-the-scenes disagreement over her dressing room.
In a joint appearance with co-host Jenna Bush Hager, Kotb took a moment to publicly acknowledge her fondness for Rowland. “I just want to say this – I have great love and admiration for Kelly Rowland,” she said. “I adore her, and I want her to come back on our show, and I want her to host again.”
Hager swiftly chimed in with the affirmation that they loved her and Rowland was “always welcome.”
Rowland initially appeared on the morning talk show last Thursday to discuss her Netflix project, Mea Culpa, with host Savannah Guthrie. The plan was for her to rejoin the show later that morning as a guest co-host on Today with Hoda & Jenna, but singer Rita Ora was called in as a last-minute replacement for Rowland, who has remained silent about her departure from the talk show.
Reports suggested that Rowland and her team were dissatisfied with the quality of her dressing room, which contributed to her decision to leave.
An insider told Page Six, “Kelly and her team were not happy… They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving Hoda without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour.”
In her gesture, Kotb graciously offered to share her own dressing room with Rowland in an effort to reconcile any differences. “She can share my dressing room, we’ll be in it together.” Kotb continued, “I just want to say we love her, we’ve loved her on this show for many, many years.”
In 2022, Rowland was in the news when she told the audience at the AMAs to “chill out” after they started booing singer Chris Brown.
