After being accused of looking “too thin” and “bony” in a recent Instagram video, Dancing with the Stars host Julianne Hough defended herself from the haters.
Hough shared a video on Instagram of herself on a spa day at her friend’s house. In response, she received a backlash of judgemental comments about her weight.
In a post on Monday, Hough wrote, “I don’t usually address comments like this, but I’m going to say a few things about this video,” under a picture of her in a bikini at a sauna.
“My body has never been healthier…I was full of inflammation in my 20s and had a marker for an autoimmune that I addressed and committed to over a year and a half ago. I’ve frozen my eggs over the last few years which also shifts the body fluctuation,” she detailed.
Hough continued, “Grief, loss, sadness, and fear also get stored in the body, and we hold on to them in different ways. I made it a huge priority to accept, express, process and release a lot of emotions over the years.”
In spite of the online trolls, Hough made it clear that she will “continue feeling safe within” herself, “regardless of the outpouring of [comments].” She said she would continue having “fun with life, which can be heavy and challenging.”
Hough took to her Instagram story to assure her fans that she and her body have “never been healthier.” She clapped back at the trolls with a picture of herself eating a burger and the caption, “For those telling me to eat a cheeseburger…This was on September 17th, the premiere date of DWTS!”
Hough has previously mentioned that over the years, she has also done strength workouts in addition to her Soul Cycle and CorePower Yoga classes.
In 2020, Hough divorced her Canadian hockey player husband, Brooks Laich.
