After Eight Years Of Bitter Fighting, Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s Divorce Has Been Finalized

Following their high-profile divorce, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a divorce settlement as of Monday.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, shared in a statement. “She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Although their divorce is finalized, Pitt and Jolie are still engaged in a fierce war over Chateau Miraval, a French winery they used to own together. In 2022, Pitt sued Jolie for selling her stake in the business to a wine division of the Stoli Group, Tenute del Mondo, despite an alleged verbal agreement between her and Pitt that they would not sell their shares without the other’s permission.

In November, a judge required Pitt to present documents regarding the agreement, which Paul Murphy, a lawyer for Jolie, reported would provide “crucial evidence” about “communications concerning abuse, lies to authorities and years of cover-up” by Pitt.

Also that month, Jolie’s motions to dismiss the lawsuit were rejected and the case took a step closer to trial. Pitt has claimed that there was a written agreement between him and Jolie that “demonstrates the legitimacy of his claims.”

A source told Entertainment Weekly that Jolie, “doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately… she’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time.”

Jolie’s source has expressed her frustration over the lawsuit and its effect on the two’s shared children. “She wants this to end and the children want this to end… while [Pitt] has the ability to do the right thing, drop the lawsuit and focus on healing their family, he has made it clear he has no plans to do so.”
