Guitarist Jake E. Lee has spoken up about his being shot while walking his dog in Las Vegas.
Lee sustained three bullet wounds on Oct. 15 at roughly 2:45 a.m. while walking his dog approximately ten miles from the Las Vegas Strip.
Lee is best known for being the guitarist for the rock band Black Sabbath’s frontman Ozzy Osbourne through the 1980s.
A representative for Lee assured that he is expected to recover fully. “The incident is under police investigation,” they said. “No further comments will be forthcoming. Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time.”
Lee shared on Facebook, along with a picture of his unscathed dog, “I deeply appreciate all the concern and well wishes. It makes everything going on a little better.”
He continued, “To clarify, I was shot three times. I was on my way back home from walking my dog Coco (I didn’t name him, so don’t!) Don’t want to go into details now. I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky.”
Lee shared that officers suspected the shooter had “emptied his clip” shooting, as 15 shell casings were found on the crime scene. “I could only dodge so many, so one bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back, which broke a rib and damaged a lung. Priority now is to keep draining my lung till it’s done crying. Then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries,” Lee explained.
Lee wrote, “Coco’s fine and appreciates your inquiries!”
Vegas D.J. Ashba shared on Instagram stories that his friend Lee was “doing surprisingly well,” and, he’s “one lucky mother!” Lee joked to him, “Just make sure that your bday bash is wheelchair accessible!”
On Tuesday, Osbourne reacted to the news: “I send my thoughts this and his beautiful daughter Jade…I just hope he’ll be okay.”
Osbourne recently sold his L.A. condo to return to England after vocally complaining about the level of violence in the U.S.
