Rock band Aerosmith is not calling it quits, according to frontman Steven Tyler and member Joe Perry.
The band is approaching it’s 50th anniversary, and to celebrate they are going on tour. The tour name, however, had some fans worried about the future of the band. “Aero-Vederci Baby!” as they have named the tour, seems to be a play on the Italian “arrivederci,” meaning ‘goodbye’ or ‘until we meet again.’
“From my point of view, I think that we are going to keep going,” Perry said, adding that he wants Aerosmith to remain “pretty active over the next few years.”
Tyler joked that the group couldn’t think of a better name for their tour, saying, “as long as the band is playing the way it is right now, it is going to be for a long time.”
Months ago, however, Perry gave a different idea. “We thought it was going to be a good idea, when we first started plotting the European run. We were going to do South America and the States for five months, and we thought, ‘We’re getting near the end here,'” he said. “We all have lives outside the band, we grew up together – went from being kids in the apartment to a long and storied career. So we thought, ‘It’s time.'”
Now, after the tour has been labeled a farewell tour, Perry admits they “kinda changed our minds.” They agree that reaching the 2020 milestone anniversary is what is continuing to drive the band.
