Adele‘s NBC concert special “Live in New York City” aired on the network Monday night, showcasing the British singer’s first live show in four years.
From the start, Adele didn’t hide her nerves. After a rousing performance of “Hello,” the leading track off her new album 25, she confessed, “I’m so nervous. I was trying to find the nearest exit before I came down, trying to leg it down.”

During the concert recorded at Radio City Music Hall on Nov. 17, Adele went on to sing “Set Fire to the Rain,” “All I Ask,” “Skyfall,” “Someone Like You,” “Million Years Ago,” “When We Were Young” and “Rolling in the Deep,” which closed out the show.
In between the songs, Adele sometimes cracked jokes or made witty asides, but other times she got candid about the songs that have earned her her legion of devoted fans. Ahead of launching into “Someone Like You,” she said, “I wanted to write a song that would be my song and I wanted to write something that would last forever.”
“I don’t sing this from the same place anymore because I sing it from an amazing place because of my man who’s here tonight,” Adele added, referring to Simon Konecki. “This is the first show he’s ever seen me do this. I hope you’re enjoying it, and I’m so glad you’re here.”
Adele released 25, her third studio album, on Nov. 20. It has gone on to sell more than 5 million copies and break all previously held records.
Earlier this week, Adele announced her North American tour dates.
