Adele took to Instagram on Wednesday night to inform fans in Phoenix, Arizona, that she will be canceling her concert there due to a bad cold.
Adele’s 25 World Tour has finally reached the U.S. — but the long stretch of performances following her shows overseas — seem to be catching up with her.
The singer was forced to cancel a show in Phoenix after coming down with a serious cold, and decided to break the news to fans personally in an Instagram video.
Adele is extremely apologetic in her video clip; devoid of makeup with a hoarse voice; she explains to fans that while she didn’t want to disappoint anyone, she had to protect her health and her voice.
“Hello, everyone, specifically everyone in Phoenix, Arizona. I can’t do my show tonight,” Adele said. “I’m really really sorry. I’ve had a cold for a couple days and I’ve been pushing through it and I did my show last night and I loved it. But, I pushed too hard and my cold has gotten the better of me.”
“Even if I did the show it wouldn’t be very good,” the singer continued. “Canceling shows is not something I wanna do and I push through a lot of things, but I’ve been trying to sing all morning and warming up and nothing’s really happening…I have to look after myself, because I have so many more shows to do.”
The singer promised fans she would reschedule the concert and bring her best performance when she comes back to Phoenix.
“I will reschedule the show, I promise you. I will come back and I’ll smash it for you,” Adele remarked. “Have a wonderful evening without me.”
Adele managed to return to the stage on Saturday night with her concert stop in Los Angeles at Staples Center.
