Adam Sandler, who was behind a number of hit comedies in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, has inked a four-movie deal with streaming network Netflix.

Adam Sandler's Netflix Deal

Sandler’s four-movie deal was announced by Netflix Thursday morning, reported USA Today. "People love Adam's films on Netflix and often watch them again and again," Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said in a statement. "His appeal spans across viewers of all ages — everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line — not just in the U.S. but all over the world."

As for Sandler, it was a no-brainer to say ‘yes’ to the offer. In the statement, the comedian quipped, "I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only….Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks. Let the streaming begin!"

Sandler’s company Happy Madison Productions will be teaming up with Netflix to develop the movies.

Netflix Original Content

Netflix has been pushing for more original content after the undeniable success it’s had thus far with popular series Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. The Sandler announcement is coming on the heels of the streaming network's reveal that it will be releasing a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon the same day it hits theaters.

Future Netflix offerings include a Chelsea Handler talk show and comedy series Grace and Frankie – starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin – and Judd Apatow’s Love.
