Adam Sandler, the acclaimed actor and comedian, has unwittingly become a fashion trendsetter among Gen Z, with his “sloppy” style gaining traction on TikTok.

In a recent TikTok video that garnered over 12 million views, Sandler was approached by a user known as “Mystery Fashionist,” who praised the actor’s “drip” — a slang term for stylish clothing. Sandler’s response was characteristically modest and humorous.

“It just happened; I really didn’t think it through,” Sandler said in the video. “There’s sneakers, there’s some goofy shorts. Whatever is in the closet, I grab it.”

Sandler’s approach to fashion contrasts with the “dad core” trend, which deliberately embraces functionality. While dad core adherents might pair a blazer with a baseball cap or mix formal and casual elements, Sandler’s style is more straightforward and down-to-earth.

The actor’s typical outfit consists of oversized basketball shorts, loose-fitting T-shirts and calf-high socks—a look that has become his signature. When asked about his fashion essentials, Sandler mentioned comfortable sneakers and socks featuring his children’s images and gifts from his wife.

“Sneakers that fit,” Sandler said. “It don’t matter if they’re dirty or not, as long as they’re fitting and not hurting.”

This down-to-earth attitude resonates with younger people. Many TikTok users have created accounts just to showcase Sandler’s outfits, praising his relatable style.

“He’s just a normal middle-aged dad,” one TikTok user commented. “Grabs anything from the wardrobe, doesn’t care what it looks like as long as it’s comfy. I love him.”

Sandler has been in the headlines lately when he responded to charges of nepotism for casting his wife and daughters in his new Netflix film, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.
