Actresses Plan To Wear ‘Time’s Up’ Pins At Golden Globes 2018

Actresses and actors are planning to wear ‘Time’s Up‘ pins at Sunday’s Golden Globes to show support for the same-named initiative.

TIME’S UP PINS MADE FOR GOLDEN GLOBES 2018

Last week, more than 300 women in the entertainment industry teamed up to start the movement, which aims to end sexual harassment in the workplace. Nearly everyone in attendance at this year’s Golden Globe awards will be wearing a pin to show their support for the initiative.

Time’s Up co-founder Resse Witherspoon hired costume designer Arianne Phillips to create the black and white pin for the show. “Reese asked me to come to the actors’ group, and told me they were going to be wearing black and would I consider creating a pin for the nominees and male presenters,” Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter. “We were up against the holidays, but I said I could do it.”

Following the various sexual harassment and assault scandals in Hollywood coming to light at the end of 2017, many in the industry had already decided to wear black to the awards show in solidarity with the women and men hurt. The #MeToo movement was also a major predecessor to Time’s Up.

Phillips and other Hollywood stylists, such as jeweler Michael Schmidt, designed the logo and created 500 pins in just two weeks. “I met so many great women, and it was such an honor to be called to action,” Phillips said.

Time’s Up was announced in a New York Times article on January 1. “We have been siloed off from each other,” Witherspoon said about women. “We’re finally hearing each other, and seeing each other, and now locking arms in solidarity with each other, and in solidarity for every woman who doesn’t feel seen, to be finally heard.”
