Dayle Haddon, a Canadian model and actress, has died at age 76 from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities in Solebury Township, Pennsylvania, confirmed the incident occurred at the home of her daughter, Ryan Haddon, and son-in-law, actor Marc Blucas.
Police reported that a faulty flue and exhaust pipe in the home’s gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak. Emergency responders were called early Friday morning and found Haddon unresponsive on the second floor. Walter Blucas, 76, was found unconscious on the first floor and is currently in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Two medics were also treated for carbon monoxide exposure at a nearby hospital.
The Solebury Township Police Department emphasized the importance of carbon monoxide safety, stating, “This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the necessity of proper maintenance and precautions in our homes.”
Ryan paid tribute to her mother in an Instagram post, describing her as a creative and compassionate individual. “She was a woman in her power, deeply attentive to others, and an inspiration to many,” she wrote.
Born in Montreal in 1948, Dayle Haddon trained as a dancer before embarking on a successful modeling career, appearing on the covers of Sports Illustrated, Vogue, and Elle. She also represented brands like L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, and Revlon, becoming a key figure in promoting anti-aging products.
Haddon’s acting career included roles in films such as The World’s Greatest Athlete (1973), North Dallas Forty (1979) and Cyborg (1989). She also appeared in Woody Allen’s Bullets Over Broadway (1994) and Celebrity (1998).
In addition to her professional achievements, Haddon was deeply committed to philanthropy. She founded the nonprofit WomenOne to promote education for women and girls globally and served as a UNICEF Ambassador starting in 2008. She also partnered with Free the Children to support educational initiatives in Kenya.
