Mehki Phifer, best known for playing Dr. Gregory Pratt on ER, filed for bankruptcy last month upon finding himself in significant debt.
Phifer, 39, filed for bankruptcy in late April, claiming to be $1.3 million in debt, reported TMZ. Most of Phifer’s debt is in back taxes, which amount to $1.2 million. He also owes $50,000 in lawyers fees and $4,500 in back child support.
The actor claims to have about $67,000 in assets, including a pricey leather bed, a Segway and three firearms. The legal documents also reveal that Phifer is spending a lot more per month than he’s bringing in through work. His monthly pay is about $7,500, while his expenses average roughly $11,600 per month.
Phifer’s most recent gigs include a part in Divergent, a recurring role as Dre Collins in House of Lies, and a TV movie. Phifer’s is slated to reprise his role of Max in Divergent sequel Insurgent (2015).
