Accused CEO Killer Luigi Mangione Says He’s ‘Overwhelmed’ By ‘Outpouring Of Support,’ Breaking 2-Month Silence After Launching Website

Luigi Mangione has finally spoken in a statement on his newly launched website. This week, Mangione, who was charged and arrested for the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, launched a website.

His legal team shared a note on the homepage explaining why they created the site. “Due to the extraordinary volume of inquiries and outpouring of support, this site was created and is maintained by Luigi Mangione’s New York legal defense team to provide answers to frequently asked questions, accurate information about his cases, and dispel misinformation,” they wrote. “The intent is to share factual information regarding the unprecedented, multiple prosecutions against him.”

The homepage also included the alleged shooter’s first official statement ever since his arrest in December 2024 via his legal team.

“I am overwhelmed by – and grateful for – everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support,” Mangione stated. “Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC from across the country and around the globe.”

“While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive,” he said. “Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future.”

According to an article published on Jan. 23 by the Prison Journalism Project, Mangione’s fellow State Correctional Institution (SCI) Huntington inmate, Vaughn Wrighttold the outlet that, unlike the other inmates’ trademark orange jumpsuits, the accused shooter was forced to wear a “turtle suit,” otherwise known as a “suicide smock.” This garment is specifically designed to be tear-resistant to keep possibly suicidal inmates from making a noose.
