Preparation for the 87th annual Academy Awards is in full swing in Hollywood as the date for the industry’s largest awards show nears.

Hollywood Prepares For Oscars

On Wednesday, scenic artist Dena D’Angelo was spotted spray painting one of the several massive Oscar statues gold in a parking lot near the Dolby Theatre. Wearing a face mask, D’Angelo worked to make the statues replicate the awards that will be doled out this coming Sunday.

When the Oscars air Feb. 22, the best of film over the last year will be honored. Early predictions have been flooding onto the Internet over the last week, with most expecting either Birdman or Boyhood to take home the Best Picture Oscar, Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) or Michael Keaton (Birdman) to nab the Best Actor trophy, and Julianne Moore (Still Alice) to finally pick up an award after receiving five nominations without winning over the years.

Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting the annual film event, picking up the torch from Ellen DeGeneres. In addition to Harris, the crowd will be entertained by performances from the Best Original Song nominees – Adam Levine with “Lost Stars” (Begin Again), Common and John Legend with “Glory” (Selma), Rita Ora with “Grateful” (Beyond the Lights), Tim McGraw with “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” (Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me) and Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island with “Everything Is Awesome” (The Lego Movie). Lady Gaga, Jack Black, Jennifer Hudson and Anna Kendrick will also be performing.

The Oscars’ red carpet special starts at 7 p.m. EST, followed by the show at 8 p.m.
