AC/DC Fans Urge The Band To Retire Following Underwhelming Performance
Footage of AC/DC’s last performance has many fans and critics alike agreeing that it is time for the band to retire.
AC/DC, which formed in 1973, has been on their Power Up World Tour for the last few months, performing across Europe and the U.S., and recently announced dates for shows in Australia. However, the reception of their latest live show has many Australian fans questioning whether or not to buy tickets.
In a now-viral video posted to TikTok, band member Angus Young is seen yelling into the microphone, while sporting blue velvet shorts with an unbuttoned white shirt. At one point in the footage, Brian Johnson sings into the microphone, but the crowd appears to be louder than the singer’s vocals.
The comments section of the clip was flooded with disappointed reactions, with one person writing, “I really wanted to see them this year…now I don’t, thank you for this.”
Another wrote, “This is so painful. They just need to stop.” A third fan remarked, “Gotta say, Angus is really pulling the load on this tour. They’ll always be my favorite band by far, but I’m sitting out this tour.”
The post has attracted over 1,300 comments, with many of them bluntly stating, “Time to retire.”
However, many of the comments defend the band and its lackluster performance, with one fan noting, “It’s an old band; of course, they’re not going to be the same. y’all don’t have to say for them to stop doing what they like.” Another dedicated fan protested the hate comments, writing, “Let them do what they want! I’ll still go watch them to say I’ve seen them one final time.”
The Australian leg of AC/DC’s tour is slated to kick off on Nov. 12 in Melbourne and will make stops in multiple cities before concluding on Dec. 14 in Brisbane. The band’s last Australian tour in 2015 saw them sell over 520,000 tickets.
