The first trailer for the Roseanne revival debuted during the 90th Academy Awards.

The original ran from 1988 to 1997 on ABC depicting an ordinary working family in a Midwest town going through ups and downs. In the original show, the father figure Dan, played by John Goodman, is killed off in the series finale. The Roseanne revival trailer makes fun of that reference by showing Dan confused asking Roseanne, played by Roseanne Barr, “Why does everybody always think I’m dead.”

The majority of the cast is returning. Aunt Jackie, played by Laurie Metcalf, the original Becky, played by Lecy Goranson, will reprise to her role. Sarah Chalke will be in a different role after playing Becky for three seasons. Sara Gilbert is set to play Darlene along with her partner in crime David, played by Johnny Galecki, and Michael Fishman is returning as a not so little D.J.

Goodman told US Weekly that the feeling was “so strange that it was remarkable. The first time I went on the set, the hair on my arm stood up because it was like they sucked me right back in.”

Barr added it was Gilbert who put it together. “Sara Gilbert is the person that put it together after John and she did a sketch on her talk show, The Talk.” Barr said, “She called me, she goes ‘Would you want to do it? John wants to do it!’ I said ‘ Hell yeah. If John’s in, I’m in.’”

Roseanne returns to ABC on March 27.
