Abbie Cornish filmed scenes as the late model Anna Nicole Smith at the West Hollywood LGBTQ Pride Parade in West Hollywood, California, on Sunday for her new film Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.
The 41-year-old Australian native was pictured with costar Kal Penn, 47, during the festive proceedings, recreating a past outing Smith had at a June 12, 2005, Pride Parade.
Cornish donned a silver faux alligator skin dress with open sides in replicating the look just like Smith – who died in 2007 at the age of 39 of an accidental drug overdose. Smith was a featured guest during the 2005 parade.
Trust Me, I’m a Doctor is based on Dr. Sandeep Kapoor’s 2017 memoir Trust Me, I’m A Doctor: My Life Before, During and After Anna Nicole Smith. Penn plays the role of Dr. Kapoor.
Cornish, who has appeared in movies such as Bright Star, Limitless and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, also matched the accessories the late Smith wore to the celebration.
They included a multicolored bead necklace, bead bracelets and a rainbow flag she was waving.
Cornish wore her blonde locks down and strappy silver heels as she was pictured alongside Penn. She wore a sky blue T-shirt that read the film’s title, with brown pants and black shoes. He was pictured walking arm-in-arm with Cornish and on the back of a vehicle with a card showing the nonprofit Project Angel Food logo.
In 2016, Cornish spoke to uInterview exclusively about her early childhood. Raised with three brothers and a younger sister, actress Isabelle Cornish, on her parents’ 170-acre farm in Australia, Cornish’s exposure to the acting world was limited to the films she saw on screen.
“I grew up, you know, with dams, horses, motorbikes, and cars,” she told uInterview exclusively. This changed when she entered and won a modeling competition for Dolly, an Australian teen magazine, at the age of 13, opening the door for acting gigs. “Entering the modeling competition was kind of my coming of age. I was signed with an acting and modeling agent from that competition; the first thing I was sent to was an acting audition.”
