The four members of Swedish 1970s pop phenomenon, ABBA, reunited in Stockholm on Wednesday, but it was only for a restaurant opening.
When asked about a reunion, Benny Andersson, pianist for the the group, said that he didn’t think the four of them would be getting back together on stage.
“We are here to party,” said his co-composer Bjorn Ulvaeus, guitarist for the famous group. Ulvaeus The reason behind the event was the opening of Ulvaeus’ Greek taverna restaurant. The venue was inspired by the Broadway show Mamma Mia. The group also included Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
ABBA formed in 1972 and broke up in 1982. The group put out eight studio albums and are best known for hits like “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” “Waterloo,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “S.O.S,” “Money Money Money” and “Knowing Me Knowing You.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2010. Abba have sold more than 380 million album worldwide since their breakthrough at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest.
