Aaron Carter has spoken out about his DUI arrest and against his brother Nick Carter.

AARON CARTER ON HIS ARREST, BROTHER NICK CARTER

Aaron, 29, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence, as well as possessing less than an ounce of marijuana. His girlfriend, Madison Parker, was also in the car and taken into custody. The pop star was released Sunday after posting the $4,610 bail.

Nick tweeted about the event, seemingly in an effort to offer a supportive hand to his brother. “To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better. Family isn’t always easy, be we’re all here for you.”

Aaron, however, did not take the tweet so well. “If my own blood truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn’t he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum?” he said in a statement. “That’s not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down. I love my family despite it through thick and thin.”

Nick responded by retweeting a note from their sister Lauren Kitt Carter, which indicates that Aaron has changed his cell phone number multiple times. “Hey @aaroncarter have @itsmadisonp text me your new number since you changed it again!”

Aaron released a full statement on Twitter, apologizing to his fans whose concert he missed in Kansas City and explaining the situation. “Aaron holds a medical license for medical marijuana for his long standing anxiety,” it reads. “He feels his ‘celebrity’ was targeted and an attorney will be retained in this matter.”
